Postage & Packaging

After deep thought, I don't think I will be offering free shipping anymore. After a nasty experience with the post office lady I don't see it financially viable anymore.
How much is reasonable post that you would pay on my items?

International Parcels are generally $9.30 but if I can send them as a letter (which is what is currently the issue... maybe it was just that one woman) they only cost about $3-4. This also depends on the item, my bulkier items have to be sent as parcels so they are a no brainer. Would you be happy to pay postage on my earrings etc? And what has worked for you? I am thinking to leave my free postage offer just for this month and change in May. Any thoughts?

  1. I share your pain!

I pay $12.00 to 18.00 for just the postage for most of my orders. I charge $10.00 to 15.00 and eat the $2.00 -3.00 as loss.

I wish that there were cheaper shipping options!

  2. I use flat rate in my shop for both US and International... I couldn't afford free shipping so it was the next best thing...most of the time it works out great and I am either a little over or a little under. My items are really light like yours (At least I imagine yours are really light) and I wrap carefully and use bubble mailers. That said, I only ship first class... and I only use confirmation on really expensive pieces (Which are rare)... I haven't lost a package yet and have mailed a lot of International.... just my 2 cents of experience :)

  3. Thanks for the input! Yes as of May I will be charging shipping. No more nasty mail lady to deal with. I do have a good calculation and can possibly still send my items as a 'large letter' rather than a parcel which may save shipping costs :)
