First Peacock Feather Hair Piece... Opinions Wanted!

Hi Everyone,

I would love your feedback on my latest design before I post it for sale online. It's my first peacock feather hair fascinator. All comments welcome. I need to find out:

1. What amount would you pay for this item?
2. Should I make more of this style? If so, what colours would you want to see?

Thank You fellow bloggers :)

  1. Wow that's bright! I have no idea when it comes to pricing things with feathers, etc. It looks perfect for the races - maybe do a red, pink and brown version too?

  2. Thanks Cloud!! :) yes it is hard to come up with a price. might have to go do promos at the races this year with a line of stuff.

  3. Cute! I was just at a fashion show/craft fair this weekend and it was all feathers...so they are definitely in! In order to price my items, I add up what everything cost me and pay myself an "hourly rate" for my time. Some even go further and then double that, but I give myself a decent hourly rate, so I am fine with not doubling. This formula has worked well for me! Good luck :)

  4. Thanks Gina. Yes Pricing is a bit hard. I'm always being asked what I pay myself an hour and I just say 'nothing because I like doing it' I might just have to re-evaluate!

  5. beautiful colour combination, I don't know what to suggest from a pricing point of view but it would certainly be up there as a great pic for race days and other similar events where the facinator is so popular. Love them.

  6. Thanks Rach! Appreciate the feedback :) I think I'll make more over the next few months and promote at race days, markets and Melbourne Cup!

  7. really pretty. I feel like the hair candy/fascinator niche on etsy is really saturated, so what catches my eye when I'm looking is unusual color combos (ie, teal and orange, pink and brown). Definitely not everyone's cup of tea, though!

  8. Very beautiful!! I second the materials and hourly wage suggestion... it's great to be able to do what you love but its ok to also charge a fair wage to yourself. As suggested, if etsy is saturated with this style of item, perhaps only test market one of each of perhaps 5 color combinations?? I have to hold myself back when testing a new product or design... I tend to get carried away a lot and make more than I should... it's a hard balance sometimes :)
